Hoping to inspire more girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, LMHS Senior Madelyn Highfield created a STEM exploration website targeted toward middle school girls. Madelyn’s work to share information about the STEM field with young girls has earned her the Girl Scouts Gold and Silver Awards.

We are so proud of Madelyn’s dedication to science and helping other young girls and admire her dedication to excellence in and out of the classroom. This Panther student is certainly going to do great things in her bright future!

See below for a summary of Madelyn's project provided by Nikki Highfield

Madelyn created a STEM exploration website targeted toward middle school girls. The website included five modules, each centered around a different STEM field: engineering, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and computer science. Each module included an overview, a list of related careers, information about prominent women in the field, and a related activity they can do at home. The website also recommended high school courses and extracurricular activities, and had additional links and resources for further exploration. She advertised her website on social media sites for student-run organizations and created a pamphlet about her project that was shared with middle schools in Warren County.
