Late yesterday evening, March 24th, it was brought to the attention of LMHS Administration that concerning comments and a threat of violence were made by a student via social media chat. In this threat, the student alleged that a weapon was brought on to campus during the school day on Friday. The messages involved in this chat were thankfully sent to LMHS Administration who immediately involved our Hamilton Township SRO to further investigate the claims made. After visiting the home of the student issuing the comments, it was determined that there was no gun present in the home and that the threats made in the chat regarding a gun on campus were not credible. Despite no weapon being found, the student was taken into custody by Hamilton Township PD for issuing the threat.

Little Miami has absolutely zero tolerance for making threats against the safety of our students, staff, or buildings. All threats will be thoroughly investigated and handled with the utmost seriousness. These actions are disruptive and serve as an unwelcome distraction to the learning environment. Those who make threats will face disciplinary action as appropriate.

We want to commend the young people who stepped up and did the right thing yesterday evening by alerting Administration when they received the concerning comments.

If you see or hear concerning comments or behavior, please act. Notify local law enforcement, building administration or counselors as appropriate. You are also able to anonymously report tips here: https://www.littlemiamischools.com/resources/report-bullying-2/ or by calling/texting 1-844-SaferOH (844-723-3764).

Thank you.
