Little Miami Welcomes Two New Assistant Principals
The Panther family is welcoming two new building leaders who are eager to join Little Miami Local Schools this fall! On June 29, the Board of Education approved Dr. Kevin Harleman as Assistant Principal at Little Miami High School and Mrs. Elyse Parker as Assistant Principal of Little Miami Middle School (formerly Little Miami Junior High).
Dr. Harleman comes to the district from his position as the Director of John K. Lazares Alternative School, while Mrs. Elyse Parker joins Little Miami from Fairfield, where she has been serving as Assistant Principal of Creekside Middle School.
Dr. Harleman holds a doctorate degree in Exceptional Student Education from Northcentral University and has been the Director of the Lazares Alternative School since August 2016. Prior to his leadership at Lazares, he worked as an Intervention Specialist at the Green County and Warren County Educational Services Center. Dr. Harleman will replace former LMHS Assistant Principal John Bailey, who was recently named Special Education Coordinator at Little Miami.
Dr. Harleman said his prior working relationship with Little Miami staff members was what attracted to apply for a position in our Panther community!
“I have worked with Little Miami Schools previously and the staff was always friendly and welcoming, and always provided me with information in a timely manner,” Harleman said. “Little Miami Schools has a very strong leadership & a growing community which also attracted me to the district.”
Mrs. Parker holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor’s in Integrated Language Arts Education from Miami University. She has been Assistant Principal at Creekside Middle School since July 2015, and previously worked at Mt. Healthy Junior/Senior High as Dean of Students and as a Language Arts teacher. Mrs. Parker will join Principal Ryan Cherry and Assistant Principal Travis Showers in leading the middle school in its new three grade configuration, housing grades six through eight.
Welcome to Little Miami! We cannot wait to kick off another great year in Panther Nation.
