Back to School 2024-2025

Open House

August 12th

5:00-7:00

Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment to allow teachers to connect with students on a personal level. The new updates are based on teacher feedback the admin team received back in August of 2023.

5:00-5:30 - 10th and 12th graders walk the building casually for them to get their schedule and greet their teachers.  Ambassadors will be passing out schedules to 10th-12th graders in the cafeteria.  This gives teachers a chance to connect with older students in a more casual way.  Teachers will have a handout about them and the course to pass to those students and families as needed.

Here is an example, Open House Template.  Please make a copy for yourself.

If you do not teach 10th-12th grade, you will assist in the cafeteria with passing out schedules or greeting the 9th graders/new families into the auditorium.

5:00-5:30 - 9th grade and new families will meet in the auditorium to be welcomed by admin and counselors and talk about LMHS and Open House expectations.  They will give them information about the start of the year like Schoology, bus info, first two days of school, and what we are about at LMHS (i.e., vision/mission, clubs, athletics). We will dismiss this group directly to the cafeteria to pick up their schedule that they will walk for Open House that night.  Counselors will pass out the schedules to 9th graders and new students in the cafeteria starting at 5:25.

5:40 - 7:00 - All 9th graders and new families will walk ETEH and 7 bells.  Teachers will be out in the hallways, assisting those with directions and welcoming these students.  Teachers will have 7 minutes each bell to greet and give out a handout.  Here is an example, Open House Template.

This is a quick and friendly get to know each other especially for our freshmen and new students.  Teachers will also have the same handout that explains them and the course that they can pass out as needed.  If you are not teaching 9th graders, you are in the hallways with a map in your hand helping direct traffic and welcoming new students and families.

first two days

First two days of school

August  15th & August 16th

We want all teachers to connect with students and get to know them in order to build lasting relationships throughout the year.  We also want to have two days that allow students to be informed about many tasks or “stuff” that we need to complete that often takes more time once school is started.  We also want to allow a transition for our freshmen and new students that have a harder time starting at the high school.  Lastly, we want to create a warm and welcoming environment for our students.
