Retirement Announcement!
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the well-deserved retirement of our Director of Support Services, Gene Blake. As he embarks on a new chapter of his life, somewhere on a beach in Florida, we want to express our deepest gratitude for his commitment and leadership to Little Miami Local Schools.
Gene has been a member of LM since 2005, when he became one of the first of two sub-bus drivers for the district. Not long after, he became a full-time bus driver. In 2007, he was hired as a full-time mechanic and later moved into the office to assist the Transportation Director. Eventually, he transitioned to become the Transportation Director. In 2010, he made his final move to the central office and became Director of Support Operations, overseeing Transportation, Facilities, Maintenance, Custodial and eventually Food Service.
“It has been a very challenging position with all the growth and obstacles we have overcome, but it has also been very rewarding. I am proud to say that our ever-growing district has come a long way since 2005. I feel so blessed and it has truly been my pleasure to have worked for and with so many kind, professional and talented staff during my tenure at LM. I will certainly miss coming to work every day and seeing my colleagues who have been both friends and family to me and mine over the years.”
– Gene Blake
Gene’s 18 ½ year journey at LM has been marked by dedication, excellence and camaraderie.
“Gene has been a dedicated employee for Little Miami Schools in his different roles with the district. He oversaw the construction of many of our buildings and their additions while dealing with the growing student population and the effects on Support Operations. While we are excited for him and this next chapter of his life, he will be missed by all.”
-David Florea, Maintenance Supervisor
His last workday will be Friday, May 31st, 2024.
“Gene is both a friend and a coworker. He has done an outstanding job in every position he has held at LM. I am very sorry to see him retire, but excited for him to start this new chapter. We will miss you.”
-Regina Morgan, Superintendent
