LMIS detectives on the case
Posted on: September 21, 2018
If you believe every television crime show, it appears every case can be wrapped up in an hour's time.
But students in Stephanie Grieshop's STEM class recently learned it takes a lot of time to sort out all of the clues that crop up around a dastardly deed during an in-class simulation.
Part of their classroom was turned into a "crime scene," complete with the outline of a body surrounded by various footprints -- both human and non-human. Other objects were found too, like soda cans, sunglasses and, weirdly enough, an ice cube tray.
Students were then tasked with solving the "crime." They tested for acids and bases, dusted for fingerprints, and even studied the make-up of fibers found at the scene.
