Miracle wins Salem spelling bee
Posted on: December 20, 2019
It took 17 rounds of polysyllabic words to do it, but fourth grader Sam Miracle prevailed to win the Salem Township Elementary School's annual spelling bee on Dec. 17.
Miracle was able to spell "calamitous" to take the title. Miracle is a student in Adrienne Saylor's class. Third grader Owen Menad was runner-up.
Miracle comes from a family of good spellers. His older brother Jack, now an 8th grader, won the Little Miami Intermediate spelling bee in 2018 and went on to represent Little Miami at the WCPO/Scripps Regional Spelling Bee. Jack had also won the Salem Twp. Elementary bee both as a third and fourth grader.
