Educator of the Week!
LMHS & WCCC Teacher Nick DeSanctis is Local 12's Ohio Education Association Educator of the Week!
Mr. DeSanctis is the digital media arts teacher at the high school. Students in his class study graphic design, digital photography, animation and video/audio production in the computer lab classroom.
The program combines academic rigor with technical training. Students benefit by building a career portfolio and achieving industry software certification.
Students are responsible for creating The Panther Show, now in its third year. The Panther Show is a monthly magazine style show that serves as a learning lab for the Digital Media Arts 2 class of seniors. The show is where they can challenge themselves and explore new ideas while providing something wholesome to our school community. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves with different styles of segments using what they've learned in class and make segments that appeal to diverse audiences. Episodes of The Panther Show have been honored with Viddy Awards in each of its first two seasons.
The DMA Sports Production Crew is a carefully selected group of talented volunteers overseen by Mr. DeSanctis. The group is entirely volunteer and does not work for money, grades, or class credit; they work the games solely because they want to be. Students help cut highlight videos with the hours of footage they capture, including a Viddy Award in 2022 for a football highlight video. Students use a variety of cameras, lenses, microphones and other gear to capture highlights from different angles and try to tell the story of the game with their shots.
Congratulations, Mr. DeSanctis!
