Gifted Education
"Gifted" refers to a student who performs, or shows potential, for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared to others of their age, experience, or environment.
Students may be identified as gifted in the following areas:
- Superior cognitive ability
- Specific academic areas: math, reading, science and social studies
- Creative thinking
- Visual and performing arts: art, music, dance and drama
To determine if your child is a candidate for gifted identification in any of the above areas, review the Characteristics of Gifted Children link below.
Little Miami School District accepts teacher and parent referrals for any area of gifted identification. You may obtain referral forms from the office at your child's school or print a copy from the link below. Return the signed referral to the principal at your school. Testing occurs in the fall and in the spring.
If you have further questions, please contact the principal at your school, or district gifted education coordinator Jamie Miles. For questions regarding art or music gifted identification, contact an art or music teacher or Mrs. Miles.
